Ever wanted to try out fishing? Weather you are an experienced fisherman or not, all are equally welcome. You can choose to hire a guide or just listen to the pre-trip information. The surroundings of Jukkasjärvi and Björkliden offer the most spectacular scenery and fishing waters. Enjoy the flora, fauna and the Midnight sun in one of Europe's last wildernesses.

Fishing for everyone

After a comfortable hike in the mountains or along the river, we settle down for some family fishing. Arctic char grayling or salmon trout are the most likely catch. There are permanent fireplaces along the lake and river. Choose between fishing in Jukkasjärvi or Björkliden. Or why not try both?

Facts: Includes fishing equipment, pre-trip information from fishing guide and sausages for barbecuing.
Duration: 2 h, daily.

Fly fishing or spinning in Stordalen
Enjoy the excitement of fly fishing in Stordalen, a nature reserve about 15 km east of Björkliden.

Facts: Includes fishing equipment, pre-trip information from fishing
guide and sausages for barbecuing.
Duration: 4 h, daily.

Midnight sun hike Abisko/Björkliden or

Puimunenvaara/Jukkasjärvi

We use the cableway in Abisko to meet the midnight
sun. The Nuolja and Puimunenvaara mountains offer a brilliant view and we pause for a quiet coffee break before hiking back to Björkliden or Jukkasjärvi. Choose between hiking in Jukkasjärvi or Björkliden. Or why not try both?

Facts: About 7 km. Includes cableway tickets (not Puimunen/Jukkasjärvi), GPS, instructions
and directions from experienced guides.
When: 10.00 pm–2.00 am, daily.
Canooing

Hire equipment
Hire equipment and set off on you own adventure for a day. On site you can hire fishing equipment for both fly and baitfishing, a rubber canoe, sleepingbags and a tent.

Car hire
Experience Lapland on your own! In the ICEHOTEL reception you may rent a car from Hertz. We will assist you with suggestions of where to go and what to do. Fishing, hiking, or just a trip up in the mountains.

Children's activities in Björkliden Fjällby

The Lemming club

As a member of the Lemming Club you make new friends and buddy up with Fjälle. We go adventure hiking, look for animals, listen to the birds and study plants. At our wilderness camp we bake bread over an open fire, read stories and just relax and enjoy.

 

Facts: For all children between ages of 4 and 9. Gather at the entrance of Hotell Fjället.

When: Mon, Wed & Fri.

Time: 9.15-10.45 am

TEAM XTREME 
If you're 10 or older and want a really cool mountain experience, you should join Team Xtreme. The programme includes survival techniques, adventure hiking in Rakkasjokken (we use harnesses, ropes and helmets to bypass obstacles in our way), mountain biking and climbing-wall training. 

Facts: For all children between ages of 10 and 15. Gather at the entrance of Hotell Fjället.
