about the art suite
Designed with the intention to create a place for serenity, Javier Opazo's suite uses the impressive ceiling height of ICEHOTEL 365 to its fullest potential. The room consists of nine tall pillars and several different floor levels. Within the space, the transparent icy pillars are positioned to accelerate an architectural transit, while the different floor levels bestows a rythm to the room.
Téckara means nine in Kunza, an exstinguished polysinthetic language from the northern part of Chile and the Altiplanic region of the Atacama Desert.
Think of TéckarA (the number nine) and allow an aperture of other thinking spaces, recalling priorities and becoming enlightened again.

About the artist
Javier Opazo is a Chilean sculptor and designer who gained his education in England. Since 2008, he has worked on several suites as well as ceremony halls at ICEHOTEL. He's also a founding partmer of the environmental sustainability initiative CULTIVA, in which he leads the project's design area.
