Inside ICEHOTEL lies our beautiful Ceremony Hall, a magical place designed for love and romance.
Every winter, a new version of the ICEHOTEL and the Ceremony Hall is created by our handpicked, skilled artists, using ice harvested from the Torne River. The hotel is filled with unique ice sculptures and artwork, where light and colour help to create a fairytale experience.
When spring arrives, the ICEHOTEL and the Ceremony Hall melt back into the river, but the memories and love shared there remain forever.
The fleeting nature of the Ceremony Hall amplifies the sentiment – when no architectural trace remains, the vows exchanged there feel even more special.
An arctic winter wedding
ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi offers a unique and beautiful place to get married. We host around 80 atmospheric ceremonies here each year, most of which are romantic winter weddings in the Ceremony Hall. Surrounded by snow, ice and loved ones, couples are wed in an environment that is truly one-of-a-kind. Despite the cold, each wedding is filled with warmth and love, creating a day to remember for everyone attending.

International couples are required by Swedish law to provide a written certificate from their local authorities in order to hold a religious or civil ceremony in Sweden.
Your wedding coordinator will assist with correspondence to the Swedish authorities, but it is important that ICEHOTEL receives the certificate of no impediment, as well as copies of passports and birth certificates, at least fourteen weeks before the wedding date to ensure all paperwork is completed on time.
At ICEHOTEL, we celebrate all love - same-sex couples, as well as people of all religions are welcomed to marry here.
What to wear
Yes, you can wear a wedding dress at a winter wedding! But you can also wear a snowmobile suit – it’s entirely up to you.
In winter, temperatures in Kiruna can drop to -30°C, so layers are a good idea and work well under both wedding dresses and suits. ICEHOTEL’s Arctic wedding package includes warm outerwear, which we recommend that guests wear during the ceremony.
The package also includes a warm hotel room for the wedding couple, where you can get changed before the ceremony. We also offer conference rooms equipped with mirrors and good lighting – preparation is an important ritual that sets the tone for a beautiful ceremony.
A three-day celebration
We recommend staying for three nights to make your experience as magical as possible. Arriving at ICEHOTEL a day before the wedding allows you time to relax and enjoy your arctic wedding destination. Many couples choose to plan an exciting activity together with their wedding party, such as dog sledding or a snowmobile safari, turning your wedding into a memorable arctic holiday for all guests.
We also recommend taking a day to unwind after the wedding. You will have a lot of impressions to take in, so to enjoy your first moments as a married couple with a leisurely breakfast and a walk in the stunning surroundings before you head home is a cherished and relaxing experience.
