To create an artistic challenge for ourselves, we have decided to "go within". The suite is filled with sculptures that are carved within the block of ice. Realizing the sculptures turned out to be difficult, because you have to think and act inside and out, and backwards to your intended final result.
Some of the figures are left hollow while others are filled with snow, creating the visual juxtaposition of what is imaginary and real. The sculpture at the entrance - Reflecting Within - is a contemplation of Tims' 90 year old father confronting his own mortality as he approaches his impending death. As humans, we spend or lives denying and avoiding recognition of our mortality, but for some few, the moment of acknowledgement does come. We, just as the ice, are all made of water and will one day melt away.
