Join a nightly excursion to hidden places in the wilderness – away from the intruding electric lights of human civilization, the conditions for catching the lights are at their best.
While we wait for the Aurora to make her appearance in the night sky, your guide takes you through the basics of nighttime photography and capturing the northern lights on camera.

This tour is for beginners and includes a guide, camera, and tripod. You can also choose to bring your own camera, and your guide will help you get the settings right for the purpose of your shoot. Remember to bring your own SD memory card of at least 16 GB.

On this tour you can also get some tips and tricks on how to take the best Northern lights photos using only your smartphone.

At the activity day, we gather at Meeting point 15 minutes before start time, equipped and ready. Please note that you as a guest are personally responsible to visit Riverside Lobby well ahead to get equipped. Read more important information down below.

Equipment

Your clothing is the most important part in order to be able to enjoy your activity to the fullest. We strongly advise you not to underestimate the cold in the Arctic during the winter months and to carefully follow our recommendations regarding clothing and equipment. Our guides have the right to deny anyone dressed wrongly or too cold to join the tour.

Included
It is mandatory to wear warm clothes that are adapt to arctic weather. Loan of warm winter overall, warm shoes, gloves, and balaclava is included for you as a guest to this tour. Visit Riverside Lobby well in advance to get equipped.

Required to bring
Dress warm underneath, preferably in thermal clothing, a warm middle layer, and hat. A memory card is not included. Bring your own SD memory card of at least 16 GB or buy it on-site for a cost of 250 SEK.

Keep in mind

We have Arctic weather which means that we during winter have extreme temperatures and short daylight hours. In winter, the temperatures can drop down to as low as -40 C (-40 F).

The northern lights are a nature phenomenon and occur on nature’s terms. The weather conditions in the north can change drastically and suddenly, therefore there are no guarantees that you will see the northern lights during the tour.
