With inspiration from traditional Japanese carpentry technique, LattICE was created.
AIGAKI is a technique in Japanese carpentry that does not use any nails or other metal fittings, but instead uses convex and concave cuts into the wood to fit the different pieces together. It is like a large-scale three-dimensional puzzle. LattICE is built based on these principals, replacing the wood with ice cubes.
The lengths of the ice cubes are parametrically different to create curves with straight lines, changing the light and shadows passing through the overlapping ice cubes.
