Welcome to Auris Interna – an invitation to listen to inner and outer landscapes
The Auris Interna is the symbol of balance and deep listening. Here, you are invited to a guided meditation by reading the poem stretched on the walls, accompanied by tender meditational sounds.
The artists want to make us observant of resonance and the sonic qualities of ice and snow, the tension in ice being so sonant while the crystal structure of snow absorbs sound. The interrelation of hearing and balance in the physiology of the inner ear makes us curious, perhaps there is also a parallel interrelation of listening and equilibrium?
A snail shaped cochlea carved in ice is reminiscent of an ancient sea creature, a creature that was formed by the same ancient water that forms this suite.
